Our Practice

At Jay R. Peluso, P.C. we concentrate our practice in three areas: Criminal Defense, Traffic Defense and Domestic Relations. If you need representation in any of these areas you want an attorney who knows the law and who is familiar with the courts, the judges, and the police officers you will encounter on your court date. We are in the trenches representing clients in these courts everyday. We will protect you in court with the best possible defense.

Traffic Defense:

How important is your driver's license to you? What price do you place on your personal freedom? If you are charged with a serious traffic offense in the Richmond, Henrico or Chesterfield area you could face losing both your license to drive and your freedom. Judges in the Richmond area routinely incarcerate people convicted of reckless driving over 90 mph, driving with a suspended license second or subsequent offense, and driving under the influence. The attorney you hire to represent you in court can make a real difference in the outcome of your case.

Criminal Defense:

We have over a decade of experience in all aspects of criminal defense from misdemeanors to felonies, from littering to homicide, from your local traffic court to United States District Court. The rules of discovery in Virginia can be an eye opening experience for those not familiar with the Commonwealth's criminal justice system. Under Virginia law, in the Circuit Court, the government is only required to provide the defense with the information listed in Virginia Supreme Court Rule 3A:11. You will notice that does not include the names or statements of any witnesses, nor the Government's theory of the case. This makes experience a crucial factor when deciding which attorney you should retain.

Domestic Relations:

Domestic Relations matters can be very emotional for the client especially when there are children involved. We strive to assist our clients in negotiating an amicable settlement in an effort to spare them the pain and expense of trial. There are times, however, when aggressive litigation is the best way to achieve our clients' goals and that is where you want an attorney who is used to being in the court room.

Call us to set an appointment. Our consultations on Criminal and Traffic defense cases are complimentary. One of the most common complaints received by the Virginia State Bar every year is that attorney's do not return phone calls to their clients. We return all client calls within 24 business hours.
